The organization Eakok entered into a partnership agreement with Agrani Bank, Chuadanga Branch on 01/02/2013 to supply home solar to remote areas in the border belt of Chuadanga and Meherpur districts of Bangladesh.
Under this program, home solar is provided to all the houses in the area that do not have electricity supply. According to the agreement with Agrani Bank, the organization will perform the responsibility of target member selection, solar demand determination, solar panel installation and maintenance. On the other hand, Agrani Bank will provide all the cost of solar panel installation to the elected member of the organization as a loan on easy terms. After giving loan to the member from Agrani Bank, the institution fulfills the responsibility of collecting the loan installment and depositing it in the bank.
The program aims to provide home solar systems to unelectrified houses in remote areas of Chuadanga and Meherpur, facilitating access to electricity through affordable loans from Agrani Bank while ensuring installation, maintenance, and loan repayment management. This activity benefits homes with electricity and at night, families gather to watch TV at local grocery stores, which boosts business. Children study longer than ever before. Under this scheme the organization is able to install home solar in around 14400 houses.
