Who We are

EAKOK ATTOMANOBIK UNNAYAN SANGSTHA is a non-government, non-profit and non-political development organization in Bangladesh established in 1999. The organization has special Consultative Status with UN Economic & Social Council (ECOSOC) from 2013. The goal of the organization is to improve the quality of life of the disadvantaged group of people who are deprived from their social justice & rights, education, health, livelihood and basic needs.

Vision

The vision of Eakok is to help the grassroots communities to be empowered, self-reliant and create a healthy society. 

Mission

To create positive socio economic changes of the vulnerable group of peoples with respect to raise awareness on social issues, involvement of youth group in social activities, health and sanitation, livelihood development, formal and non formal education for child and reproductive health to ensure friendly sustainable ecological balance. 

Objectives

  • Employment generation of the disadvantage groups.
  • Enhance awareness on various social issues.
  • Poverty alleviation, with special emphasis to the extreme poor.
  • Improve socioeconomic status of older people through income generating activities.
  • Elimination of illiteracy through formal and non-formal education.
  • Facilitating the promotion of savings habit to eradicate poverty through various sustainable IGAs.
  • Sustainable Eco-Friendly System.

Ensure access to the hygienic sanitation system in line with MDG to ensure better health.

Eakok’s Plan and Strategies

To improve the livelihood condition of the target population and the disadvantaged communities of the society we have a plan to undertake quality public and private services in the selected intervention areas like skill development training, formal and informal education, reproductive health and awareness, to ensure friendly sustainable ecological balance and various types of awareness program on social issues for their better- off and healthier life. Our strategic choices are as following:

  1. Focusing on empowering communities to actively participate in decision-making processes and take ownership of initiatives that affect them.
  2. Advocating for and promoting human rights, social justice, and equality in all aspects of the organization’s work.
  3. Engaging in policy advocacy at local, national, and international levels to influence policies and legal frameworks related to the organization’s mission.
  4. Building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, other NGOs, and the private sector.

 

Gender Policy:

The organization will actively work to eliminate gender discrimination, bias and inequality. The organization is committed to complying with relevant local and international laws and regulations related to gender equality, as well as adhering to international frameworks and conventions. Gender-sensitive practices in recruitment, retention and promotion will be strictly adhered to, as well as policies on work-life balance, flexible work arrangements and parental leave. Organization observes zero tolerance towards any deviation from its gender policy.
